Lessons From My Sessions

Apr 16, 2020

Ever wonder what goes on in a typical accent or pronunciation private session?

I do my best to provide some type of tangible speech transformation (or multiple transformations hopefully) in every one of my sessions

How do I make it happen?

By choosing the best goals for each student, knowing how to cue and correct each student based on their learning style, AND knowing how to pivot and personalize what we are practicing to meet the needs of each student.

When you really personalize your sessions, you get a really clear picture of where your students are making mistakes in real-life conversations.  These are the mistakes that make them feel embarrassed, self-conscious, anxious, afraid to speak up...all those awful emotions that made them want to improve their spoken English in the first place!

And these are the mistakes that we need to help our students AVOID!  So, in this episode of Teachers School, I'm sharing a few of the mistakes that I have encountered in my sessions with my students.

I hope you will use these examples to help your students avoid common mistakes and feel confident about their speech.

What You Will Learn In This Lesson:

  • Why anticipating mistakes makes your students view YOU as their go-to speech expert
  • Why you should be more than just an accent/pronunciation teacher for your students
  • Some new topics, activities, and ideas for your sessions
