Teaching accents and pronunciation is a valuable skill, and there is a growing demand for qualified professionals who can help others improve their language proficiency.  Whether you're a teacher, ESL instructor, SLP, SLP-A, other language professional, or just have a knack for accents, offering accent and pronunciation training can be an excellent way to establish a business or generate additional income.Â
Flexible Schedule: FREEDOM! When you get to design your own work schedule, you can achieve a healthy work-life balance.
Minimal Stress and Paperwork: Say goodbye to excessive paperwork and administrative red tape. We get to focus on what we do best: transforming lives through effective communication!
Empower speakers to improve their communication skills: Better communication = more confidence and new opportunities in the personal and professional lives of our students.
Global Connections and Relationships: My favorite part of this work. We get to connect with people from all over the world, forming meaningful relationships and expanding our cultural understanding through the diverse backgrounds of our students.
Accent training is a highly specialized field, which means the hourly session rates are quite high. On average, private sessions range from $75.00 to $200.00+ per hour.
You can easily fit a few clients into your schedule, especially during evenings and weekends. In fact, many students prefer these times, allowing you to offer sessions outside the regular 9-5 work schedule.
The work is virtually stress-free! With minimal paperwork, no dealing with insurance or IEPs, and no report writing, accent training won't interfere with your current work responsibilities or personal life. There's no need to leave your current job unless you choose to do so after building up a roster of students.
The best part? You don't need any additional certification, licensure, or degree to provide accent and pronunciation training. You already possess many of the necessary skills.
It's as simple as listening to your students, helping them identify their specific speech challenges, and practicing together to correct them. Very similar to casually correcting someone's grammar in conversation (if that's something you do or have to stop yourself from doing!)
English is a global language and the most studied language in the world, with approximately 1.5 billion people speaking it as a second language. While not every ESL speaker wants or needs to work on pronunciation, many do, and for various reasons. The demand is out there, and students are actively seeking professionals to help them.
Now is the perfect time to step into the world of online teaching and coaching. Thanks to COVID, the world has recognized the flexibility, convenience, and effectiveness of online training and students are eagerly embracing this format.
